Terms of Service

Please read the rights and obligations between you and us before using Tribes.

1. Acceptance of the Terms

Welcome to Tribes! These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form a contract between you and [Full Company Name] ("we" or "us") governing your use of the Tribes app and related services (the "Services"). By registering an account or using the Services, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy in their entirety.

2. The Services

Tribes is an international social service built around shared interests. Its main features include interest and personality matching, themed room communities, real-time chat with AI translation, AI conversation suggestions and country map unlocking. We reserve the right to add, modify or remove features at any time.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Services.
  • You must have full legal capacity. If your access has previously been suspended, you may not reactivate it without our consent.
  • You warrant that your registration information is true and accurate, and you will update it promptly when it changes.

4. Account and Security

  • Each user may register only one account. Accounts may not be transferred, rented or lent to anyone else.
  • You are responsible for safeguarding your account password; you bear any loss caused by your failure to do so.
  • If you discover unauthorized use of your account, please notify us immediately.

5. Subscriptions, Payment and Refunds

  • Downloading the app and its basic features are free. Advanced features are offered on a subscription basis and billed through the App Store or Google Play.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel in the app store at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • When you upgrade a plan, the remaining days are prorated and applied to your next bill; advanced features take effect immediately after successful payment.
  • Refunds are handled under the refund policies of the Apple App Store or Google Play. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by these Terms.
  • We reserve the right to change plan contents and prices. Price changes take effect from the next subscription cycle and will be announced in advance.

6. Code of Conduct

You agree not to engage in any of the following. If you do, we may remove content, restrict features or terminate your account:

  • Harassment, threats, discrimination, hate speech or bullying of any kind.
  • Impersonating others, using photos that are not of you, or providing false information.
  • Fraud, solicitation, advertising, multi-level marketing or other unauthorized commercial activity.
  • Posting pornographic, violent or unlawful content, or content that infringes the rights of others.
  • Collecting other users' personal data, sending harassing direct messages, or leaking other people's content.
  • Using cheats, crawlers, reverse engineering or other technical means that interfere with the normal operation of the Services.

7. User Content and License

  • You retain the rights to the content you post on the Services (photos, text, files and similar material, "User Content").
  • You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, adapt and publicly transmit your User Content for the purposes of providing, improving and promoting the Services. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content already shared with others and where retention is required by law. Content featured in other services we operate is handled under Section 8.
  • You warrant that you hold lawful rights to your User Content and that it does not infringe the intellectual property or other rights of any third party.

8. Public Content License Across Affiliated Services

  • In addition to the license in Section 7, you grant us the right to reproduce, adapt, publicly transmit and publicly display your public posts within other services we operate, in order to feature them as suggested content in those services.
  • This license covers only posts you have set to public, together with the nickname and profile photo needed to attribute the content. Non-public room posts, direct messages and other non-public content fall outside its scope.
  • This license is non-exclusive and royalty-free and may not be sublicensed to anyone outside our company. We do not license, sell or otherwise provide your public posts to any third party outside our company.
  • You can turn this feature off at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy → Cross-platform Recommendation. The license ends as soon as you do, and we remove content already featured in the other services within 7 days.
  • When you delete an individual post or your account, this license ends with it; we notify the other services to take the related posts down, and removal is completed within 7 days.
  • This license does not affect ownership of your User Content. You remain free to use, license or otherwise deal with your User Content.

9. AI Feature Disclaimer

  • The translation features of the Services are generated by AI technology. They are for reference only and may contain errors or inaccuracies.
  • You should not treat AI output as professional advice. Except as otherwise required by law, we are not liable for loss arising from your reliance on AI output.
  • For how AI features process data, see Section 4 of the Privacy Policy.

10. Safety Measures and Reporting

  • We provide reporting and blocking features. Where an account is verified to have breached these Terms, we may issue a warning, restrict features, suspend the account or ban it permanently, depending on the severity.
  • We may use automated tools to detect fraud and abuse, but we cannot guarantee the authenticity of every user. Please assess the risks of interacting with other users carefully, including meeting them offline.

11. Intellectual Property

The intellectual property rights in the software, interface design, trademarks, text, images and other content of the Services (other than User Content) belong to us or our licensors. You may not reproduce, adapt, distribute or otherwise infringe them without our prior written consent.

12. Changes, Interruption and Termination

  • We may suspend the Services for system maintenance, upgrades or force majeure events, and will give advance notice where possible.
  • You may terminate this contract at any time by deleting your account. We may also terminate or suspend your access if you breach these Terms.
  • After termination, your data will be handled under the retention and deletion rules of the Privacy Policy.

13. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

  • The Services are provided on an "as is" basis. We do not warrant that they will be uninterrupted or error-free, nor do we guarantee matching results or social outcomes.
  • Interactions between users, and any disputes arising from them, are to be resolved by the parties involved; we will assist only to the extent required by law.
  • Except in cases of intent or gross negligence, our liability for loss arising from your use of the Services is capped at the total amount you paid to the Services in the 12 months before the loss occurred. Rights granted to you by mandatory provisions such as consumer protection law are not limited by this section.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and the [Taiwan Taipei District Court] shall be the court of first instance. However, if mandatory consumer protection rules where you live grant you more favorable protection or jurisdiction rights, the foregoing does not affect them.

15. Miscellaneous

  • If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is not affected.
  • We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced before they take effect through an in-app notice or email, and your continued use constitutes acceptance.
  • These Terms are drafted in Traditional Chinese. If versions in other languages exist, the Traditional Chinese version prevails.
